What did the day look like?

On wedding day I arrive on location 30 minutes early before our scheduled time. This allows me to chat with and get to know important family members and members of the wedding party. Taking this time to get to know key people in the wedding party and family members who are involved with helping with wedding responsibilities it allows people to begin to become comfortable with my presence….. After all, I’ll be there all day, SO it’s important everyone gets along!

10am: Hanging with the Bride and Groom

We always start with shooting small wedding details, but pictures of details aren’t as fun to look at, so we left most of those photos out… Once details are over we move on to the FUN stuff hanging out and shooting the bride and groom interact with some of the people who mean the most to them! This part of the day is the best time to get to know the wedding party and make sure everyone is clear on what is going to be happening through out the day. Luckily the schedule for this wedding allowed for us to squeeze in the photographs of the groomsmen before the first look, which helped free up time later in the day.

1pm: First Look In Crested Butte

After finishing up the images of the bridal party getting ready we moved on to the first look. As you can probably imagine this can be a nerve racking time for both the bride and groom. It is the first time the couple will be seeing each other on their special day and after months of planning this is the REAL start to a couples special day. We did Kristen and Jon’s first look in Crested Butte just a few miles away from the wedding venue and I’ve got to say I’m obsessed with some of the images and all of their authentic emotions.

Ok this is where it gets good…..

1:20pm

Bride and Groom shots!!! This is always my favorite part of the day. As the photographer of your wedding I get to spend the entire day with you, all the while getting to know you in the most intimate way. These shot are my time to get to know you one on one. I shoot with a mix of posed images but my favorites are always the shots between the shots. I’ll pose you, you’ll probably laugh about feeling awkward at some point and that is when I’ll get the shots you will cherish forever.

2pm:

After shooting the bride and groom we called in the bridal party. Bridal photos can be challenging when the group is large. Lucky we had a huge field to play with and a rather fun group of individuals who helped keep the mood light while still moving efficiently through the shot list.

2:30pm:

The wedding is in an hour!!!! Boys, go to the venue and girls stick around for bridal party shoot. After the Bridal shoot we capture a few more images of just the bride in all of her glory. I love hanging out with the bride just before the wedding. Trying to capture images when emotions are at their highest is the key to success!

LETS GO GET HITCHED!

3:10pm:

Time to head to the venue to get hitched! Wedding time is at 3:30 so we’ll just keep on rolling from here. By now we are all plenty comfortable with each other and everyone should be feeling the flow. Feelings are running high but everyone is feeling good because we’ve had a smooth morning, and all the photos we wanted to get are GOT!

3:30pm:

The wedding ceremony begins… Looking north with the most scenic background and Crested Butte perfectly framed it was time to find the flow and starting documenting moments as they unfold. No more pressing the pause button and asking for one more shot. From here on out it’s raw emotion and being in the right spot at the right time.
